I created my first set of paintings in Garden City, Idaho with my public studio open to the public every first Friday. I showed these without names or prices to get a feel for what people responded to and I was surprised to discover that favorite paintings are often as unique as the people who chose them. With abstraction people often saw things I didn’t mean to paint – I could take pieces further once I had more time to look at them so there were often changes after people saw them or I looked at them longer. With realism people often picked the same favorite. It’s only with art and the public that I can experience these pure experiments with meaning. The work will be on exhibition in Plattsmouth, NE on March 29 and April 5, 2025.
