Smile, it’s a Game

I used to think my solitude
Was cleverly conceived.
I am afraid, I was wrong;
Be afraid, they are wrong.
I used to stand, to wait and stare
For a hand to cover me.
They couldn’t see, or wouldn’t see.
Be afraid, they are wrong

Smile, it’s a game
Na, na, na, na
You just can’t put me away

Now when you say
That I was wrong
Where were you, I waited there.
Look out right, I needed more;
Thank you dear, I’ll meet the door.
The firebird who came in me;
All the while the time is now.
Once the well was overdry,
And the lie, it would go on.

Smile, it’s a game
Na, na, na, na
You just can’t put me to shame

Twenty years of silly girls,
I am to say they only know my fate.
In order then, I doubt I know,
I doubt I feel, I doubt I’m real.
All the hip and loyalists,
And we’re not on friendly terms;
Not with your face, or with your race;
Not with your sex, or with your thing.

Smile, it’s a game
Na, na, na, na
You just can’t put me away
