Casey Hallas is a painter, video artist, musician and social theorist from Quincy, IL. He now resides in Omaha. Casey encodes his life story and philosophy into artifacts to share with his community. “Creativity is spirituality, a symbolic practice, and an act of peace.” After a career as a production artist and project manager creating scenery using printed textiles – Casey produced his first group of paintings and prints in Boise, ID between 2016-2019. “The theme of my show is the paradoxical nature of the value of art, trauma, and power in American Society.” Descriptive cartouches decode the paintings’ meaning for his revered audience with reproductions available through Infinite Tapestry Co. – a media label and website founded in 2019. “I hope you enjoy confronting complex realities of masculinity with me through storytelling and the beauty of painting, when originals and man-sized reproductions can be seen side by side.” A feature film about the work will also be produced with help from documentarian Joshua LeBure.
